Build a plugin that ships reusable skills.
Create a skill plugin
This guide walks through creating a new plugin for a reusable skill.
1. Scaffold
agentrig plugin init acme.my-skill-plugin2. Add skill files
Place your skill under skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md and any supporting scripts alongside it.
3. Update plugin.json
The scaffold already creates plugin.json. Edit it in place after you add your real metadata and files.
It uses the Agent Plugins manifest shape:
{
"$schema": "https://agent-plugins.org/schemas/1.0.0/plugin.schema.json",
"name": "acme.my-skill-plugin",
"version": "0.1.0",
"description": "A reusable skill plugin.",
"author": { "name": "Your Name" },
"license": "MIT",
"keywords": [],
"extensions": {
"ai.agentrig": {
"displayName": "My Skill Plugin",
"publicSkills": ["my-skill-plugin"],
"configSchema": { "type": "object", "additionalProperties": false, "properties": {} },
"pluginDependencies": []
}
}
}AgentRig plugin manifests are Agent Plugins 1.0.0 conformant. AgentRig-specific fields live under extensions["ai.agentrig"].
The extension is optional. Catalog category and all review, provenance, risk,
support, ownership, and advisory state are supplied during publication and stay
outside the package.
4. Test locally
Keep local author testing separate from the public install surface by exporting a provider-native marketplace from your plugin directory:
cd ..
agentrig plugin export --agent codex --pluginsDir ./acme.my-skill-plugin --out dist/codex-marketplace5. Publish
Publish to your own registry or contribute to the official registry. See Publishing plugins.
